We would like to express our gratitude and thank each and every firefighter of the Michigamme-Spur Fire Department who, during and after our recent camp fire, performed with the highest competence, professionalism, and expressions of humanity that we could imagine in this kind of emergency. Their excellent training was evident as they did everything possible to fight the fire and save a nearby building and many trees. When they returned the next morning and later in the day to check for flare-ups and smoldering ashes, we were further impressed with their skills. It also gave us an opportunity to meet and personally thank some of the crew for their work and their kindness. We especially liked hearing about the "Pigs in Heat" fund raising hockey game, and were grateful for those services. In the end, we never expected this to happen, but the fire fighting crew were ready and there when we needed them. Personal words of comfort and sympathy were greatly appreciated. Michigamme should be proud of such great people who volunteer for their safety.
